Looking your best in photos

Does the idea of getting in front of the camera make you nervous? Do you find that you look back at pictures of yourself and think....OH LAWD...I look terrible! While I'm certainly no Gisele, there are a few things I can tell you that will help with combating these two things and help you on your way to taking better pictures.

SMILE!!! Think of something funny or that makes you genuinely happy. I cannot stress this one enough. When you smile, you make others smile, and when your smile is genuine, you smile with your eyes. And....bonus, when you start thinking of things that make you happy, you start to feel less awkward in front of the camera and that's when the magic happens!

Take it a step beyond smiling and laugh!

There's something called the skinny arm. This is MAGIC, absolute magic for making you appear thinner all over. Basically, you place one hand on your hip so that your arm is away from the body and the muscles in your upper arm are a bit engaged. The action of placing your hand on your hip, does some other awesome things to your posture and VOILA, you suddenly appear 10 lbs thinner. Just Google any celebrity posing for a picture on the red carpet and you're guaranteed to see what I mean.

Push your chin forward slightly. It doesn't matter how thin you are, if you pull your face into your neck, you will give yourself a double chin. So practice pushing your chin out just slightly. Practice in the mirror and begin doing this immediately in photos.

DON'T SLOUCH! Similar to the double chin, when you slouch, you look heavier. Who doesn't want to look taller, thinner, and more full of life!
